National Novel Writing Month #NaNoWriMo

November is National Novel Writing Month. J. and D. R. Oestreicher wrote the first draft of their first joint novel during NaNoWriMo 2006. The book, Plague of Equals, was published this year (2015). This blog is about the second novel with the work-in-progress title of Bat Book.

As might be expected, bats (chiroptera) plan a major role, as they should. Chiroptera are the second largest order on mammals with over 1,200 species and representation on all continents except Australia.

In addition to populating most of the planet and surviving in a wide variety of niches, bats are one of only three members of the cordata phylum to develop flight. The other two being birds and pterodactyls (extinct).

We hope you enjoy our journey as much as we will.
